Who should not get a Maine Coon

A Maine Coon can be a wonderful companion, but not every home or moment in life is right for this breed. Responsible placement matters more than a quick reservation.

If you want a low-maintenance decoration

A long-coated cat needs routine grooming, appropriate food, enrichment and veterinary care.

If no one can spend time with the cat

Maine Coons are often social and benefit from daily play and interaction. There is no universal two-hour rule; assess the individual animal.

If the cat is meant as a toy for a child

Adults must be responsible for welfare, boundaries and supervision. Children should learn gentle handling.

If your budget covers only the purchase

Plan for ongoing food, litter, grooming, insurance or emergency veterinary expenses.

If the home cannot be secured

Windows, balconies, cables, plants and transport arrangements need attention before arrival.

If you need a guaranteed personality or completely allergy-free pet

Temperament varies by individual, and no cat breed is reliably hypoallergenic.

Before you decide

Request a live meeting, read the individual agreement and review the documentation for the kitten you have chosen.

Not sure? Talk to Victoria before committing. Sometimes waiting is the most caring decision.
