How to Verify a Responsible Maine Coon Breeder
A responsible verification process connects one identifiable breeder to one real kitten, its parents and available records, then places the price, payment recipient and next steps in writing before money is sent.
1. Confirm the person and place
Start with the breeder’s official domain, name, physical location and stable contact directory. A market phone number or delivery destination does not prove that the cattery is physically located in that country.
Use a live call to confirm that the person, the environment and the selected kitten correspond to the public identity you have reviewed.
2. Meet the selected kitten live
Ask to see the kitten in real time, not only in forwarded photographs. Confirm the kitten’s name, current status, visible markings and the page you are discussing.
A live call supports identity verification; it does not replace veterinary or registration documents.
3. Match the records
Compare the kitten’s date of birth, sex, colour or EMS notation, sire and dam across the profile, pedigree and written agreement. If a number conflicts, stop and request the original source document rather than choosing the newest web page.
4. Separate health evidence
Parent DNA results, cardiac screening, a kitten’s clinical examination, vaccination record and travel documents answer different questions. Ask which animal each record belongs to, who issued it and when.
5. Put the commercial terms in writing
Confirm the kitten price, reservation deposit, remaining balance, delivery estimate, payment recipient and the agreement governing the transaction. If a marketplace or partner processes the placement, its price and contract may differ from the breeder’s direct terms.
If payment instructions change unexpectedly, pause and verify them through the official contact directory.
